Storage Insurance
Find quick answers to the most common questions about insurance policies
Why Insurance Is Important?
At Culberry Storage, we want you to have complete peace of mind when storing your belongings. That’s why insurance is required for all customers — it ensures your items are protected against unexpected events such as fire, flood, or theft.
Whether you’re storing personal possessions, business stock, or furniture during a move, having the right insurance means you’re fully covered — just in case.
Who Arranges the Insurance?
You’ll need to arrange your own insurance policy to cover the value of the items you’re storing.
Most customers are already covered under an existing home contents or business insurance policy — simply check with your provider if it includes “goods in storage” or “off-site storage”.
If not, you can take out a standalone self storage insurance policy with your preferred insurer before moving in.
Proof of Insurance
Before you move your items in, we’ll ask you to provide proof of cover. This can be a:
- Copy of your policy certificate
- Letter or email from your insurer
- Policy schedule showing storage coverage
This helps us confirm your belongings are insured for their full replacement value.
How Much Cover Do I Need?
You should insure your goods for their total replacement value — not second-hand or sentimental value. If you’re unsure, make a quick inventory of what you’re storing and estimate how much it would cost to replace everything new.
Why Arrange Your Own Cover?
- Flexibility – Choose the policy that best suits your needs
- Transparency – You control the level of cover
- Simplicity – Use your existing insurer or pick your own
- Peace of Mind – You’re fully protected while storing with us
